Dear Missouri Family,
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ!” This is the commandment of the Scriptures, but it is the privilege of the body of Christ! In the unity of the Spirit, we serve Him best by serving one another.
Today we have an opportunity to fulfill the Biblical mandate by caring for our brothers and sisters and the general populace of Joplin who have been so affected by the recent destructive tornado which swept through their city.
I am calling on the Missouri District to rally together in gathering and delivering badly needed supplies to those in need in Joplin. Pastor Frank Buchanan, II has agreed to serve as the on-site coordinator for these efforts, and his church, Peace Tabernacle, 5734 South Main St., Joplin, MO, 64804 will be the collection and distribution center.
This morning Brother Graham and I have been in contact with members of the district board who will be providing further information in their sections regarding the collection of goods and finances. We are working on securing vehicles for transporting these goods to Joplin. Our goal is to deliver these items on this coming Saturday, May 28.
Plans are still being formulated, but at present we are aware of three confirmed collection points:
1. Harvest Tabernacle in Lebanon, MO – Pastor Chris Thornton
2. Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Rolla, MO – Pastor Gary Teague
3. Calvary New Life Tabernacle in Gerald, MO – Pastor Daniel Maxwell
Other locations in various sections across our district will be designated, and you may expect to receive such information from your presbyter.
We are very grateful for Compassion Services International of the United Pentecostal Church coming alongside this effort with financial support and expert, logistical planning. Following is a list of items which they have provided to us which they have learned from experience are appropriate for such a relief effort.
* Bottled Water
* Bar Soap
* Toilet paper
* Baby diapers (all sizes)
* Baby wipes
* Canned foods (potted meat)
* Fruit Cups
* Hair Combs
* Hair Brushes
* Crackers (peanut butter, cheese cracker)
Anyone interested in helping may do so by securing any of these items or by making a financial contribution either to your section or directly to the district office. Due to the pressing nature of this need and our desire to respond by this weekend, please reply to this e-mail with any anticipated financial donation to this cause so we may purchase supplies accordingly.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration of this need. The Missouri District has always been a wonderful, spiritual family, and at such a time as this you are a great blessing to those in need in Joplin. I look forward to seeing what God does collectively through His people!
