Flooding in Manila, Philippines and nearby provinces has affected nearly 2.4 million people. More than 360,000 have been forced to seek shelter in government-run evacuation shelters. Although the rain that began Sunday has subsided and for the second day the sun was shining it is now time to begin ‘Operation Cleanup’. Residents are already hard at work repairing homes, churches, stores and other buildings damaged or destroyed by the massive flood waters.
CSI has been in contact with those on the ground and the need is great. We know of several churches that have been damaged and more than 400 families from these churches have been directly impacted with many being displaced from their homes. We are issuing a call to raise $15,000.00 to help with the purchase of food, bottled water, medication, vitamins and building supplies. This is a large amount that needs to be raised quickly. We know from past experience that sending aid sooner rather than later is vital in helping to get people the supplies they need. By making a financial contribution to CSI you will be helping those in greatest need. The funds raised will help those affected to begin the long process of rebuilding.
