By now everyone on the planet has heard the horrific stories out of West Africa concerning the Ebola crisis. This virus is fatal in 50%-90% of those infected has already claimed nearly 3000 lives with thousands more infected. The clinic in Liberia that CSI has helped sponsor has also had to close its doors after the director, Asatu Salifu and nurse, Quita Mulbah died as a result of contracting the Ebola virus. Each of these ladies were being cared for by their daughters and unfortunately both of them also passed away.
The Ebola clinics are running out of beds for patients and are faced with turning away dozens of sick people every day.The living are many times forced to live alongside their deceased loved ones for days while they wait for Ebola team members to come and properly dispose of the bodies. It has also been reported that bodies are left on the sides of the road for days at a time. Along with the threat of contracting this deadly virus the people in West Africa are faced with a hunger crisis. Many people are not able to work. Borders have closed in many areas making access to food extremely difficult. CSI is working with our contacts in Liberia and Sierra Leone who are working to do food deliveries to those in desperate need. CSI donors have generously raised over $7,000.00 to help with this great need but the need is far from over.
People are dying every day. CSI is committed to helping. If you have not had the opportunity to donate but would like to join us there is still time. You can donate today: https://compassionservicesinternational.cloverdonations.com/ebola-outbreak-2014/
