2014 was a year filled with many opportunities to help victims of natural disasters, disease, war and famine.
CSI continued assisting victims of Cyclone Haiyan in the Philippines by sending additional funding of over $35,000.00 to help those who were still in the process of rebuilding their lives. This additional funding helped to supply needed food, water and building supplies.
As 2014 continued the world learned that Liberia was in the middle of the worst Ebola crisis ever. CSI was able to work closely with our missionary partners on the ground as well as the personnel from a medical clinic that we helped start. CSI was able to determine that the best way we could assist those in need was by raising needed funds for food relief and hygiene items. CSI donors helped raise over $15,000.00 that was sent during the early fall of 2014. Unfortunately CSI was given the tragic news that our clinic director, Asatu Salifu, along with two other clinic workers died from Ebola. The clinic was forced to shut down for several weeks due to the Ebola crisis. The CDC was able to come to the clinic to complete thorough training to the new director and staff on the proper cleaning techniques and how to handle patients who presented with Ebola symptoms.
In other parts of the world CSI was able to provide food relief to impoverished people in Burkina Faso and to flood victims in Bangladesh, Belize and India.
Religious persecution was something our brothers and sisters in the Middle East faced daily. CSI donors were quick to answer the call for help and raised the needed funds to help relocate families fleeing ISIS to safe locations.
We give thanks to God for His great love, favor and many blessings. Our world is faced with tragic situations everyday and as Christ followers we need to be willing to give, love and serve those in need. We give thanks to our supporters who pray for us and the needs in our world and who give sacrificially to help those in need. You are making a difference in the lives of thousands of people around the world.
We know that 2015 will present us with new challenges and obstacles but we have faith that God is in control and that we will once again witness the miraculous happen.
Please continue to pray for CSI as we strive to move forward with new ideas and plans to expand our reach and for greater involvement in the lives of those who are faced with tragic circumstances. We desire to be hope-to be light-to be love-to share the Gospel-to offer help to the men, women and children around the world.
