Fiji Relief

Fiji 2016 3

On Saturday, February 20, 2016, Cyclone Winston slammed into Fiji near Nasau on the main island of Viti Levu, causing widespread damage. This category 5 storm is the strongest in history to hit Fiji. The death toll has reached 44 and 35,000 residents are currently homeless. Fiji is made up of 300 islands and aerial photographs show that many villages in outlying areas have been completely flattened.

Food Relief In Progress
CSI is working closely with our contacts on the ground to assess the needs. In the village of Lolomalevu we know of one church that was completely destroyed along with the homes of 9 church families. Food relief has begun and will continue as needed. We will also be helping to rebuild homes and churches. There are exploratory trips being made to outlying areas where most likely other churches and homes have been damaged or destroyed. CSI will continue to post updates as we get more information. If you would like to join us in helping the people of Fiji you can donate to our  Rapid Response Fund For Fiji!

Compassion Sunday

Each year we hold an annual Compassion Sunday event. This event is held on the last Sunday in February. This year Compassion Sunday is on 2/28/16. We really need your help to make this years event our best one yet.

People sometimes ask, why should I give to the Compassion Sunday fund? What is so important about Compassion Sunday? In short, the funds that we raise on this day, ensure that CSI can be ready to respond quickly when disaster strikes. We have to have emergency funds on reserve so that help can be sent in those first days after a disaster when people are often in a state of disbelief and confusion. They don’t have the time or energy to be worried about how their basic needs will be met. They just need someone to step beside them and provide help in their greatest hour of need.

Supplies Collected for Super Storm Sandy Victimscsisandyrelief

This is our goal. We want to be able to respond immediately. We don’t want to tell people that we have to wait for several days or even weeks before we can send help. But, unfortunately that happens. It happens because of the lack of emergency funds in reserve. Can you help make sure that in 2016 CSI is ready to help? Donating online is quick and safe at: Compassion Sunday Fund. Check donations can be mailed to the CSI office, 3333-1 Rue Royale, St. Charles, MO 63301. We also have downloadable resources that can be used to help spread the word about Compassion Sunday here: Compassion Sunday Resources.

We have also prepared a brief survey about Compassion Sunday. We would love to get your feedback as we look at how to improve this event in the coming years. Take Survey

Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can help CSI in 2016. We can’t do it without you. Your donation today will provide basic necessities, food, clean water and rebuilding supplies to those in need around the world. The following pictures are examples of your donations at work.
